Job Description

Role Summary

An established distribution operation is looking for a seasoned Quality Manager to oversee food safety and quality programs at the site level. This individual will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, client expectations, and internal policies, while supervising a team of frontline staff. Acting as the on-site subject matter expert, the role is responsible for maintaining an effective quality system, promoting ongoing improvements, and reinforcing a strong quality and food safety mindset across the facility.

Location: On-site role based in Somers, Wisconsin

Schedule: Day shift, Monday through Friday (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

Travel Requirement: Approximately 10%

Compensation & Benefits:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Quality Systems Management: Oversee and enhance the site’s quality framework to ensure it remains compliant, effective, and aligned with all applicable standards and expectations.
  • Regulatory & Audit Readiness: Lead audit activities and maintain compliance with industry regulations and certifications (e.g., food safety standards and governing bodies).
  • Team Leadership: Direct quality and sanitation personnel, ensuring daily activities, training, and procedures are executed consistently and effectively.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as the key liaison for customer quality-related inquiries, concerns, and investigations, ensuring prompt and thorough resolution.
  • Issue Resolution: Drive corrective and preventive action processes, including root cause analysis and follow-through on identified issues.
  • Training Initiatives: Facilitate training programs related to quality practices, food safety, and compliance to maintain operational readiness.
  • Records & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation, including audit materials, compliance records, and reporting metrics.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, product quality, and safety performance, and implement solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent blend of education and practical experience
  • At least five years of background in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or food safety within logistics, packaging, manufacturing, or similar operational settings
  • Familiarity with handling regulated or hazardous materials, including traceability, recall procedures, product disposition, and controlled storage practices
  • Hands-on involvement in audit preparation and execution, with a solid track record of maintaining compliance with applicable standards
  • Experience contributing to workplace safety programs and collaborating across departments on compliance initiatives
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, food safety practices, and process improvement techniques
  • Effective leadership and communication abilities, with a track record of managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Solid analytical mindset with experience using digital tools for data tracking, reporting, and problem-solving

Desired Background:

  • Experience in third-party logistics or similar service-based supply chain environments is a plus
  • Advanced education in a related field is beneficial
  • Exposure to regulated storage or food-grade handling environments
  • Experience working across both distribution and production-based operations
  • Familiarity with warehouse or inventory management platforms (experience with major systems is advantageous)
  • Comfort with, or interest in learning, data analysis tools, statistical methods, and reporting software used in quality functions
