SLS Siteworks LLC is a growing site development contractor focused on delivering high-quality infrastructure, land development, and site-preparation projects. We value safety, integrity, teamwork, and technical excellence.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sitework Field Engineer to support project execution by translating plans and specifications into field operations. The Field Engineer will provide technical support to superintendents and project managers, oversee layout and QA/QC activities, coordinate with subcontractors, and help ensure projects are built accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret civil/site plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to support on-site construction activities.
  • Perform layout and staking for grading, utilities, erosion control, structures, and paving; verify existing field conditions.
  • Maintain daily field documentation: progress reports, QA/QC logs, material testing records, and as-built information.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers to resolve technical issues and confirm constructability.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, measurements, and field verification of installed quantities for pay applications and change orders.
  • Monitor compliance with project specifications, safety standards, erosion and sediment control measures, and environmental requirements.
  • Support schedule tracking and communicate progress, delays, and resource needs to project leadership.
  • Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance to plans and relay required revisions to the office/field teams.
  • Use survey instruments, GPS, total stations, and layout software where required.
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings, daily huddles, and quality inspections.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
  • 0–4 years’ field engineering experience in heavy civil/sitework construction preferred.
  • Proficient reading and interpreting civil/site plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
  • Familiarity with surveying and layout tools (GPS, total station) and basic survey techniques.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work in fast-paced field environments.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Bluebeam or plan markup tools; experience with construction management or layout software is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel to project sites and work outdoors in variable conditions.
  • Commitment to safety and ability to enforce site safety protocols.

Preferred

  • Experience with utility installations, mass grading, stormwater systems, and erosion control.
  • Familiarity with material testing procedures and DOT/public works project requirements.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Erosion & Sediment Control, or basic surveying credentials.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and opportunities for performance-based bonuses.
  • Health, dental, vision insurance.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and professional development support.
  • Company mileage reimbursement.
